About Us

Northwest Requirements Utilities (NRU) is a non-profit trade association founded in 2002.

Our 52 member utilities are located in 7 states served by BPA: Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Wyoming, and California. This includes 13 municipals, 7 PUDs, and 30 cooperatives.

Mission Statement

Northwest Requirements Utilities provides support and information services to its members by advocating on behalf of Load Following customers of BPA to protect their interest in low cost and reliable power supply available from the resources of the federal power system, we assist them in addressing power supply issues, and work to preserve their access to equitable transmission services needed to serve retail load.
